Giving Patients the Tools for a Lifetime of Healthy Eating

PCRM physicians John McDougall, M.D., and Joseph Wysoki, D.O., have developed a nutrition program to meet the needs of busy doctors and their patients. McDougall’s Program for Physicians includes updates on the latest in nutritional science with educational DVDs, audiotapes, and books. Recipes, menu plans, and pre-packaged vegan meals help patients transition to a healthy diet.

Dr. McDougall is founder and medical director of a live-in wellness program in Santa Rosa, Calif., that features a plant-based diet shown to promote weight loss and reverse heart disease, high cholesterol, symptoms of type 2 diabetes, and other chronic conditions linked to poor nutrition.

Dr. Wysoki is an osteopathic physician practicing in Texas. After losing 35 pounds and lowering his own cholesterol by 100 points on the program, he tailored it to meet the needs of physicians. “It’s a common sense approach to eating that worked for me,” he says. “This is a realistic program that will improve the health of the whole family.”

PCRM Mobile Bilboard

To protest the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons’ Ball meat-centered fundraisers, PCRM recently sponsored mobile billboards in Atlanta, Austin, Harrisburg, Houston, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Tampa, Washington, and Wichita. PCRM urges the ACS, which acknowledges that vegetarian diets are linked to lower rates of colon cancer and other diseases, to adopt fundraising practices more consistent with its mission.
