MEMBER SUPPORT: Gifts of a Lifetime
Dear PCRM Member,
Thank you to all who returned your member surveys from the last
issue of Good Medicine. The past year has been one of incredible
growth for PCRM, and we are eager to learn what our members think
about our expanded programs. If you haven’t sent in your survey,
it’s definitely not too late—and we’ll send you
a token of our appreciation for your effort!
In this issue of Good Medicine, you will read about a
number of leaps forward in our work. Another notable advance is
our recent success in the creation of an insulin assay (blood test
for diabetes) that does not involve any animal suffering. What is
truly amazing about this is that it stands as a testament to the
types of changes possible in science when someone is determined
to develop a solution. Truly, the only hurdle in our progress in
this area is the expense. We have the desire, the expertise, and
the resolve to develop humane alternatives. Support from our members
keeps this work going strong. Long-term giving methods, such as
wills and trusts, are amazing opportunities to make an ongoing difference.
As you may already know, we have a special membership category—Lifetime
Partners—for those of you who have decided to include PCRM
in a planned gift such as a bequest or trust. We greatly appreciate
notification from members when such gifts are arranged, so that
we have an opportunity to thank them for taking such an extraordinary
step to support PCRM’s future programs. Bequests can truly
become the lifeblood that keeps a nonprofit strong during difficult
financial periods or times of much-needed expansion.
Often referred to as “gifts of a lifetime,” bequests
allow us to support our family and friends, as well as the causes
that we have been passionate about during our lives. Bequests come
in all sizes; we do not have to be millionaires to make that extra
gift. Whether the gift has been $100 or $1,000,000, Lifetime Partners
have provided critical support for PCRM.
I’d be happy to speak with you about various planned gift
vehicles. Or, if you prefer, we have a wonderful interactive Web
site that will walk you through several different gift options that
are tailored to your own financial priorities and needs. The Web
site is accessible through www.pcrm.org or directly at http://pcrm.gift-planning.org.
Our members are the reason that PCRM has had such tremendous success.
Thank you for being such wonderful partners in our work.
